EROSION COLLECTION

Natural forces like wind, water or other natural agents slowly and steadily erode everything exposed to it, our life and our surrounding is in constant change, we crate and it vanish in the flow of time. The things what surrounds our everyday life are also in constant change, either because it breaks or we simply bored of it. These unwanted and threw out objects are the starting materials of a new creations which will give a new life and meanings. Intervention in the material is a gesture representing liberation from a material world like in traditional Japanese aesthetics wabi-sabi. Characteristics of wabi-sabi aesthetics and principles include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature. Workflow is based on traditional technics like Yakisugi, hand tools and environmental friendly ingredients.

Materials used are reused, repurposed, salvaged from scrapyards, unwanted furniture picked up from the streets, building materials salvaged from buildings that are under demolition, leftovers from construction and production.
Creating new objects from these materials are the real challenge and joy. Exploring the possibilities and limits of the repurposed materials, are a way forward for a sustainable life.
